Steel AISI 420 / EN 1.4021 / 20X13
Corrosion-resistant steel AISI 420 belongs to martensitic type alloys. Additionally, it undergoes heat treatment procedures to improve strength characteristics, and is characterized by increased wear resistance. The alloy is distinguished by good ductility, good impact strength, heat resistance, resistance to corrosion processes.
Features
The alloy is a mixture of ferrites and carbides. After heating to 1050–1060 °C, followed by a hardening procedure, martensite is formed, the strength and hardness of which depend on the mass content of carbon in the alloy. The chromium carbides included in the steel improve the strength parameters of the alloy, increase hardness and wear resistance.
AISI 420 heat-resistant steel, compared to the closest analogue AISI 410, contains a greater amount of carbon, which allows hardening procedures and improve wear resistance.
Applications
Buying AISI 420 steel is a must for any application that requires high demands on corrosion resistance and strength. Such alloys are used in the production of:
· cutting tools, measuring equipment;
· springs, carburetor needles, car pistons;
turbine elements;
boiler parts of all types;
steel fasteners, gaskets;
heat-resistant screens;
equipment for the food and medical industry and so on.
