Tantalum

Tantalum is a highly hard metal with a metallic silver color. An oxide film, which, under certain conditions, can form on its surface, gives lead shades.
Special Properties
At room temperature, tantalum metal is inactive. The oxidation process begins at temperatures above 280 degrees. When interacting with halogens, at 250 degrees, an oxide film is formed, which prevents the continuation of the oxidation of the material.
The melting point of tantalum is quite high. It is equal to 3290 degrees. The boiling point is 5731 degrees.
With a sufficiently high hardness and density of 16.7 grams per cubic centimeter, the material is very plastic. Easily processed and can be rolled to a thickness of 1-10 microns. It is paramagnetic.
The metal is highly resistant to corrosion and acids.
The price of tantalum is quite high, which is largely due to its rarity. But this is fully offset by its unique properties.
Applications
The metal is successfully used in the aerospace industry, nuclear power, and the chemical industry. You can buy tantalum for the manufacture of implants and prostheses, superconductors for electronics, low-voltage capacitors, high-precision mass standards, and other unique products.
