Steel 1.4742 / 15Х18СЮ

Steels such as Ferrotherm 4742 or 1.4742 are heat-resistant stainless steels. The steel is based on iron (approximately 83 percent), chromium, manganese and aluminum act as alloying components.

This steel composition allows for excellent physical characteristics:

high strength;

impact resistance;

good ductility;

· resistance to corrosion processes of any type.

Such marking of metals is in demand when using finished structures and structures in aggressive environments with a high sulfur content. The closest analogues are steel 4724 and 4762, the main differences are the quantitative composition of chromium and aluminum.

Features

Stainless steels of this type during processing often “lubricated”: the machine removes longer chips from them, which complicates subsequent processing. To avoid this, it is necessary to use the recommended hard metal processing parameters.

Application and use

Steel is used in pipe production, in the manufacture of fittings , for pyrolysis type installations. It is in demand in the petrochemical industry, as well as in construction, mining, and the medical industry. Alloys retain their parameters in a wide temperature range up to 900 degrees, which allows them to be used for the needs of heavy and steel industries.
