Spring wire manufactured in compliance with the European standard EN 10270-2 is a high-quality alloyed steel product designed for various types of mechanical springs. Produced by cold drawing followed by oil hardening and tempering, the wire provides an optimal combination of strength, elasticity, and fatigue resistance.
Wire diameters are available in different sizes depending on the wire grade and application, enabling its use in springs of different sizes and purposes. The surface of the wire has a light gray color typical of heat-treated steel and is free from scale and significant surface defects.

Mechanical properties such as tensile strength depend on the wire grade and nominal diameter. EN 10270-2 specifies separate requirements for different wire grades rather than one universal tensile-strength range.
| Diameter (mm) | Tensile Strength (N/mm²) | Elastic Modulus (GPa) |
| 0.50-1.60 | 1760-2430 | 206 |
| 1.61-3.20 | 1600-2380 | 206 |
| 3.21-10.0 | 1400-2200 | 206 |
| 10.1-17.0 | 1300-1800 | 206 |
EN 10270-2 wire is widely used in the following sectors:
Each batch undergoes quality control according to the applicable requirements and may be accompanied by an EN 10204 3.1 certificate where specified. Tests include:
The wire is supplied in coils or spools and may be wrapped in protective paper or plastic film to help prevent corrosion. It should be stored in dry, closed areas to protect the wire from moisture and corrosion.
This spring wire combines high mechanical properties, stable quality, and versatility, making it suitable for producing durable springs for various applications.
