Electrical steel 3408 / 30P110

Steel grade 3408 applies to the group of electrical sulfur alloys, also referred to as “dynamic”. It is produced in the form of thin sheets, with a thickness of 0.05 to 2 millimeters.

Special properties
Rolled sheets contain from 2.8 to 3.8% silicon, which determines the electromagnetic properties of the material. The basis is iron, with a share of up to 96%. In some cases, it can be alloyed with aluminum.

Alloy 3408 is anisotropic, with an oriented rib structure that provides significant magnetic permeability in the direction of rolling and minimal specific losses in a weak field. This, as well as a decrease in density, to the level of 7650 kilograms per cubic meter, electrical resistance, is facilitated by a high silicon content.
Cold-rolled 3408 electrical sheet is supplied in heat-treated form only.

Applications
The special properties of the 3408 alloy contribute to the manufacture of efficient components for the magnetic circuits of electric machines, all kinds of devices and transformers.
The low price for rolled metal products is ensured by the availability of the elements that make up the alloy.
